Family Room Continued

My family room dreams continued...Are you ready?  Cream shag carpet.  Yes really.  I said that.  Which is so absurd.

Yet so inviting and yummy.  See this all started when my cousin and I traded sofas this weekend.  Because we're edgy and wild and out of control.

The poor girl in me ran on down to Tower Carpets for some carpet remnant research.  If you can't beat em.  Join em.  Or, have something cut fit to size and color so you can afford it.

Options.  The dilemma of my life is that the sale rug is actually a higher quality carpet remnant.  Like swanky girl higher {which you know I don't generally turn  down swanky girl} However it is not as cream as I had hoped.  Which I realize a cream carpet is not wise according to my lifestyle.  Aka: child, dog, affinity to red wine, etc.

The lightest really does look the best but even the carpet man suggested strongly against it.  So I'm thinking the compromise will be the middle option.

Turmoil

I have to apologize yall!!  I read over my past few blog posts and I just have sounded like a crotchety old banchee these past few weeks!! HOW EMBARASSING.

Let me explain.  I have been distracted and experiencing a painful gut wrenching inner turmoil.

Are you ready?

Ok here it goes.

I've been wrestling with the decision:

Whether or not to change my family room to completely monochromatic neutral tones!!

GO AHEAD. CALL ME BORING.  BUT I THINK I'M DOING IT ANYWAY.

Champs.

And I'd just like to add, bedazzling.  I'm from the south.  Come and see.  You will  leave bedazzled to some degree.

Hopefully in the form of humongous clip on earrings that 85 year old women wear.  And 20 something year old women too.

Summer Reading

So then, what's on YOUR reading list this summer?  If you say something stupid like you don't read, you should say it not to me.  Because we {Americans} have the privilege of being taught how to read for free, essentially {thank you public school system} and  it's not exactly to anyone's detriment.  I mean really.

Which is why I only read classic literature that challenges the mind and feeds the soul.  This is next on my list.  Because I think I may be a victim of this pandemic.  I'll let you know.

But obviously I have to finish this one first.  Ok who am I kidding I stayed up past midnight on a weekend away to Emerald Isle to finish this riveting piece of work in two days.  Seriously.  I couldn't put it down.  I think it was written in the 80's because the characters called eachother's landlines at night, and wondered where the other was when no one "picked up."

Or you may just need to relax with a high fashion glossy.  This is my Uncle Ray.  He didn't know he was reading Glamour for the first 15 or so minutes {aka until the last couple pages}.

So really. Tell me.  What are you reading this summer? I HAVE TO KNOW.

The Fourth!

We had Fourth of July.  In which I wished desperately we were at the beach in which we were not because I am a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.  Which means, that in the State of North Carolina your nursing profession requires you to miss out on things you love and care about for the sake of the art and science of nursing.

So instead we went to a pool party after I worked and watched the fireworks from Dorothea Dix field.  Don't even get me started on the travesty that is the State of North Carolina not caring in the slightest for the mentally ill in relation to the State of Dorothea Dix.  By the way, how are we {the tax payers in the State of North Carolina-so no this question obviously does not apply to EVERYONE-} going to pay for the maintenance of a big beautiful park that I do not deny for one minute would add value and quality of life to the City of Raleigh?  I don't know abouchu:  But I like my money right where I can see it.  On my pay stub.  Not paying the lawn maintenance crews.  If so, I will hire them.  For my yard.  It's entirely too big.  That's what you get when you marry a self-proclaimed "Country Boy."
A "yard." Ugh.  Smack me with a  Pick Ax.  Yes I now know what that is.

Back to us having a great time at Dorothea Dix field.  Here we are loving fireworks and Raleigh and nice nights out with friends!  Ye haw.

PS Please forgive me for that earlier rant.  Sometimes you just have to say how you feel in order to move forward.

The Merrimon-Wynne House

So now then are any of you sweet cheeks planning on getting married any time soon?  Feel Free.  Because now Downtown Raleigh can accommodate your celebrations.

This week was Jodi's Ground Breaking Ceremony and while the invitation was actually meant for Josh who is involved as a participant in the renovation of this beautiful historical property {as opposed to myself: the observant} I have only minor qualms pretending as though I am a "part."  Because I love Jodi and I've got nothing better to do.  And can I just take this moment to say, that this is exactly what Josh and I were looking for when we got married however unfortunately Raleigh was not yet prepared to deliver.  Needless to say, momma {myself: the observant} is super proud.  Get it girl.  And ps can we have our friend group Christmas party there this year before you officially open?  And New Years?

In the meantime, feel free to educate yourselves in a little bittle of Raleigh's history:
