Today is the Day

Today is my first day off working my new part time job.  So I can spend more time with this little bittle yummy yums.

I'm already feeling guilty-that I should be on my hands and knees scrubbing the baseboards rather than feeding my baby breakfast (as opposed to paying someone else to do it).  Yeehaw.

Tales From My Crock Pot

So you say you don't cook but want your man to love you forever?  You say you're too cool for your crockpot? I say why don't you just simma-dahn-nah.

I present to you: Tales from my Crock Pot.  And some not from my Crock Pot aka other last minute meals.

Crock Pot Quinoa Chicken Chili

Breakfast for Dinner. You're welcome husband.  Who doesn't love a dip egg and bacon?

Trader Joe's Mushroom Risotto ...plus broccoli and peas equals..Vegetable Risotto.  You'll never regret it.

Crock Pot Chicken and Dumplings with Vegetables.

Crock Pot Chicken Lasagna

Yellow Fellow

We have a bonus room; since we have moved in it has actually been a holding room for things- because I need to decorate the rest of my house first.

Now that my child is increasingly mobile, it's time to put this room to use.  Seriously.  With gates and padded walls and lead-free everything because Lawd knows he will attempt to consume anything.  Anything.

I'm not really a "yellow" kind of girl but recently we bought this rug...

For el cheapo and I'm thinking I want to pull the yellow {of which you can't really see} out of the rug for the walls.  Why?  Because I want my bedroom pink, my child's is already green and I will. not. will. not. be painting anything in my house beige.  And I cant just have every room the same color and yellow in a bonus room is a great thing, right?!  I had to convince myself through further research because sometimes yellow can just be so...yellow.  And late '90's-early two thou's.
{Think William Sonoma Yellow and Pale Blue Overload circa my high school experience}

You already know I'm operating with champagne taste on a beer guzzling budget.  I have to work with what I have.  What do I have, you ask?  A gold/brown sofa, this aforementioned small area rug, and an oddly shaped bonus room of which I have no clue how to decorate.

On another related note: I found this beaut at a thrift I'd never visited until this week...

I love worn leather; this is a recliner.  Think: I could care less about recliners because they are unattractive however I do want my husband to love me forever because I will never find another person to tolerate my -isms the way he does.  This is a happy medium, eh?

I'm just anxious about all this washed out washy washers ...light brown, light yellow, mellowed out area rug.  My go-to answer is a pop of pink.

Snow Day

This weekend we had a snow day. You know what that means?

That's right.  TurboTax.

Yes, my husband unhooked the PC and brought it downstairs and set up shop on the kitchen table to rectify our taxes while watching NC State play Va Tech.  Then Duke play Maryland.  Oh Happy Day.

And because I am North Carolina born and breaded I just as well assumed that the beginning of flurries means I am snowed in.  No matter it didn't stick on the roads at all whatsoever.

Truly I love any excuse to stay in, do nothing, see no one, ignore signs of life, etc because truly, I am a hermit at heart.  And because I was snowed it I took it upon myself to act as Godly wife in which I have been called by adequately prepping.

That isn't actually any prep work, more like meals for the rest of the week prepped in advance because if I do not start on the weekend, we'll be eating breakfast for supper.  Since I am a firm believer in giving credit where credit is due: I have been inspired by Julia at Pawleys Island Posh, who has kept us up to date on her meal planning ventures.

Look: meal planning is one of those things I'm embarrassed to admit to because it may put me in the loser-el cheapo-groceries for $200/month and proud (seriously, that's not real)-couponing-mommy and me-category.  But I stalk Pawley'sIslandPosh on La Reg, and Julia is way cool. and sassy and relevant.  {We don't actually know each other, let's not talk about the category THAT comment puts me in}.  Plus her meal ideas are way better than "The BEST PINEAPPLE AND HONEY AND BROWN SUGAR AND CHICKEN AND RICE YOU'VE EVER HAD" I know you know what I'm talking about.

So thank you Jul-ierrrr ;o)

My week in pictures

Of course my child had his One Year Old check up complete with vaccines.  Yes I am one of those old fashioned mothers who has her child vaccinated as measles will surely be more likely to kill him than the vaccine itself.

And in expected fashion he demolished everything in his path, even at the pediatrician's office.
He has neither shame nor discretion.
He will ruin your things regardless.  And by "ruin" I mean "eat."

Never worn flats that I wore today and never opened iphone case, both courtesy of GCF

My husband and I cooked dinner together for the first night in history.  It was magical.  Blackened Tilapia over Quinoa Ceaser Salad because I'm down like that.

Valentines Day attention.

Valentine's Day Indulgence.  Thank you Whole Foods for your very necessary Cheesecake Bites

Living Social offered "discounted" Restylane Treatments of which I am in dire straits; maybe that will be in the 2014 budget.  Sugar I'm still junking shopping thrift bins on the reg without apology.

Valentine's Day continues and I just noted the price tag in this photo, how tacky of me...

Now you will see this week's winnings-Custom window valences for my breakfast nook at $1.29 a piece.  And to think, I never sift through those big disgusting fabric boxes ...well here's a new me.  I will not forget to bathe in anti-bacterial tonight, dontcha worry.  Note: this is not the final image of the mounted product.  This is the initial image of my jerry rigging them to the blind casings.

Lucky for me someone at GCF thought this belonged in the bin of free clinique/lauder/prescriptives bonus baggies.  It didn't.  And I didn't see the use in telling them $1.99 later.

So. Adorable.  Pink Seer Sucker fabric.  Also $1.29.  Apparently that's the go to price when they aren't priced.  Helllllerrrr pillerrr cerrverrrs.

To Sconce or Not to Sconce

Hey look I told you that story to tell you this one.

I am in a pickle.

1.  Denise Austin follows me errywhurr I go.

In the form of yoga.

2.  Which made me start to consider armed wall sconces beside the television.  Whatsayyou?  I have to be honest, I think it's a great idea by my ideas aren't always that great, so I have to consult the experts.  Don't know that I'm sold because it wasn't exactly easy to find much, so that means all the cool kids may or may not be doing it.
