A Rock and A Hard Place.

So I have a personal qualm with Charlotte's so please don't view this in any way as support, advertisement, allegiance, etc.  In my opinion the associates can be rude (unless you enter the store with a man, not kidding, I lived aka shopped in Cameron Village for enough time to notice the trends of the sales associates).  Not to mention the owner is not always known amongst her minions for being exactly a woman of character.

Yes I said that and yes she does breed and encourage catty and unsupportive behavior amongst her young learning growing female employees which I will never even pretend to tolerate or turn a blind eye towards.  And yes I do know that for a fact.   FURTHERMORE-her behavior is only indicative of her age, this is note the 80's, ladies.  Women do not have to undermine each other in the workplace to get ahead anymore.  Read a book sugar, we are millennials-we support each other.

As a young learning growing professional female working in primarily female employed environments I feel it is my place to say that this is just not acceptable behavior to foster in the workplace.  Or any place for that matter.  If you want more schooling in this department, please let me know I'll be more than happy to impose my opinions upon you further.

Anywho.  Somehow I received this notice in my email inbox, I do believe because my husband has made purchases for me at this store and submit my email address for notices (Heaven forbid they send you sale coupons and you go in to actually use them).  The ladies are trained to look at you as though you are eating food out of the sewer should you present the coupon THEY MAILED TO YOU at the register, because not actually ANYTHING in the store is applicable towards discounts unless they put a computer printed piece of paper in an ornate frame on the display table of their choice.

Either way the point is.

I HATE THAT I WANT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS SALE BECAUSE I LOVE MONOGRAMMING AND SANDALS  AND SUMMER AND MONOGRAMMED SANDALS IN THE SUMMER AND I WANT THEM SO BAD AND I HATE TO TAKE STANDS ON THESE SORTS OF THINGS AND THEN THEY LURE ME IN WITH THEIR ADORABLE  PRODUCTS.

So Charlotte's: My charge to you is this:  Act right and get with the times, because your gifts are on point.  And you may or may not see me today April 11th to purchase these obnoxious over the top monogrammed sandals, no doubt if I have to remind the sales associate that her $160 over priced sandals are in fact a whopping break the bank 15% off she'll snarl her cute little nose up at me as though she can actually afford the products in the store without her employee discount on her Charlotte's salary.  Sugar don't do that it's so unbecoming.

I'm only saying what everyone else is thinking.
I think.

My First World Problems

I should be way more embarrassed than I am to tell you this.  But I use outlets such as email to customer service departments through various marketplaces and agencies to handle my inner dealings.

I truly feel justified in giving them everything I've got.

See what happens is.  I get really busy.  And then I handle my business via the world wide web.  Like make purchases for scrubs before I start my new old job-HELLO NICU WHAT WHAT IT'S BOUT TA GIT CRAZAYYY.
OK that was so obnoxious I just had to do it.

So when I place an order for something I hate buying to begin with.  In excess of six items (seven).  And you send me a confirmation email that my order is pending.  And I follow up on said order via order number in search of a tracking number.  And your place of business has the nerve to tell me every single of the seven articles in question are not in stock and the order is pending but don't worry my pretty little mind they'll get them to me as soon as they become available...I call bullshit.  Excuse me that was rude and crude and necessary.

I am not sorry.  Are you not in the business of selling your merchandise to the overpaying public?  I am well aware that your items are marked up--upwards of 100% and I STILL choose to place an order in excess of $200 of my cold hard earned cash for the sole purpose of absorbing another humans' urine, vomit, sputum, brain tissue, what have you-you'd better deliver sister.  Not one single item is even available for shipment?  Get your mess together honey, momma's not playing this game, you think I have time to chase around what is now rightfully mine as you were sure to charge the visa once I clicked " SUBMIT " and let's get real, you aren't even registered with Ebates...

Please enjoy a gross example of over sharing with an excerpt from my most recent : First World Problems  (this may become a series)

Order #: AH005286582

I'd like to follow up with this above noted order placed on Saturday.  To confirm: it appears as though none of the items I ordered are available to ship. I ordered 7 items. None are in stock?   Unacceptable.  When can I expect to receive my order? I can understand 1 or 2 items being on backorder, however all of them?    Are you a valid place of business?  Are you registered with the BBB? As you have already welcomed yourself to my bank account, I will not hesitate to contact said agency for review of your business practices.

I believe one pair of scrub pants was on clearance-do tell-how is that not available to ship?
Please advise-
Thank you
Meredith Decker

And all of a sudden this issue is not about over priced Urbane and Grey's Anatomy Scrubs.  Or a lavender littman stethoscope.

Now what it is about, I'm not sure-I'm a nurse not a psychiatrist.

Just get me mah stuff.

More Eats

Don't think I don't eat meat with my potatoes.

Grilled Marinated London Broil Recipe

Steak marinated in red wine, worchestershire and garlic then grilled to perfection.
Serves 4
Prep time:
Cook time:
Ingredients:
  • 2 gloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon woresterchire
  • 1 tablespoon dry red wine
  • kosher salt and fresh cracked pepper
  • 1 (1.5 pound) top round (may be labled london broil at your grocery store)
Instructions:
  1. Whisk the marinade ingredients together in a large bowl.
  2. Make several (about 10) small, shallow incisions all over the meat.
  3. Place the meat in the bowl and coat both sides with the marinade. Cover and marinate 6-8 hours or overnight.
  4. After the meat has marinated, remove meat and discard the marinade.
  5. Heat your outdoor grill on medium, lightly oil grate. Grill 7-9 minutes on each side for medium rare or until desired doneness. (Note: You can also cook this using the broiler setting on your oven. Place it on a baking sheet on your top oven rack.)
  6. Remove from heat, let rest for 10 minutes. Slice. Serve.
A couple things about resting and meat temperature: As with any steak, resting is very important here, you don't want to cut the steak too early your meat will be dry. Also, I prefer all of my steaks medium rare and I know there are some people out there that cringe at that idea. However, for tough, lean cuts of meat like this if you cook them too much past medium rare they can become very tough so I recommend no more than medium.

And Spinach Mashed Potatoes

Will also be trying this recipe...

Spinach Mashed Potatoes

  1. 2 pounds Yukon gold potatoes, peeled and cut into 2-inch chunks
  2. Kosher salt
  3. 1/2 cup whole milk
  4. 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  5. Mashed roasted garlic cloves
  6. Freshly ground pepper
  7. Finely chopped cooked spinach
  1. In a large saucepan, cover the potatoes with cool water and season generously with salt. Set the pan over high heat and bring to a boil. Boil the potatoes over moderately high heat until tender, about 20 minutes. Drain well then transfer the potatoes back to the pan.
  2. Meanwhile, in a small glass bowl, heat the milk with the butter until the butter is melted, about 1 minute. Pour the milk mixture into the potatoes, and using a potato masher, mash the potatoes until smooth. Season with salt and pepper, fold in the spinach and serve.

Honey Sriracha

What's on the menu this week you ask?

Honey Sriracha Baked Chicken

Prep time
Cook time
Total time

These sweet and spicy chicken thighs are like a cross between roast chicken and hot wings. For the best results, use organic or all-natural chicken.
Serves: 4
Ingredients
  • 4 bone-in Chicken Thighs (about 2 pounds)
  • ¼ cup Sriracha
  • ¼ cup Honey
  • 1 teaspoon Low Sodium Soy Sauce
  • ½ Lime, juiced (about 2 Tablespoons)
  • ¼ teaspoon Ground Ginger
Preparation
  1. Heat oven to 425*F. Arrange the chicken thighs skin-side up on a baking sheet. Bake 15 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, mix together the remaining ingredients in a small pan set over medium-high heat. Cook for 3-5 minutes, or until reduced to a thin glaze – a spoon dragged through the sauce should leave a trail in its wake.
  3. Spoon the reduced sauce onto the chicken thighs, covering the skin generously. Return to the oven and cook an additional 15-20 minutes or until the skin is crisp and begins to char and the juices run clear when the thighs are cut into with a knife.
  4. Remove from the oven and tent with foil; let rest 5 minutes before serving.
